A child taking atypical antipsychotics must be monitored for symptoms of an adverse reaction called Metabolic Syndrome (obesity, hypertension, increased blood glucose, triglycerides, and cholesterol). Talk to the doctor right away if the child is gaining weight, thirsty all the time, or drinking and urinating more than usual.
