The 2023 Theme: Highlighting Unsung Heroes

Here at APS, our mantra is “Protecting the Unprotected”. This is what we do. Our mission is to protect older adults and persons with disabilities from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. But we don’t do this work alone! APS counts on the efforts of a wide variety of partners. And our 40th Annual Conference will provide an opportunity to highlight the importance of these unsung heroes who help serve our vulnerable clients.

To highlight the importance of partnerships, APS will use the conference to launch a campaign designed to foster strong and effective collaborations within communities across the state:

"APS and Texas Communities Working Together: Partnering to Protect Lives and Preserve the Dignity of Vulnerable Adults"

Our clients deserve the best, and working together with our valued and needed partners – “One Team, One Goal” – we can protect them with honor and integrity.

Since 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the passing of Title XX legislation in Washington, the initial legislation that allowed states to create APS programs, we will be celebrating APS, our partners, and our clients throughout all of 2024. And that celebration will start at the 40th Annual Conference!

By oneself, or in isolation, we might be limited in what we can do, but working together with unsung heroes across the health and social services ecosystem, as well as law enforcement and the judiciary, and others who serve vulnerable adults, we can find solutions and resources, and begin to identify the system changes needed to make abuse, neglect, and exploitation a thing of the past. Ensuring the safety and preserving the dignity of vulnerable adults is noble work. And recognizing all those partners who make this work possible is the right thing to do. It is time to sing the praises of our valued unsung heroes!

This is the longest-running Adult Protective Services Conference in the country, and it also yields participants from almost every state in the US!

APS’s Exhibitor Gallery is an excellent opportunity for organizations working in the field to promote their products and services. Exhibitors will receive half-price conference registration fees for up to two people from each exhibiting organization.
