Revisions to Follow-Up Policy and Procedure (PATS 7682)

The items below are revised to clarify that Licensing staff must follow up with an operation by asking if all records are now in compliance, not just the ones that were selected for review and found to be deficient. In addition, LPPH 4311 is being revised to indicate a follow-up inspection would not be needed if Licensing staff cited the operation for an overdue annual fire inspection and compliance could be verified by other means.

Caregiver Ratios Beyond Licensing Requirements (PATS 7582)

The items below have been revised to instruct CCL staff that operations may use caregiver ratios stricter than what is required by Licensing. CCL staff will consider this when determining a staff shortage. In the Definitions of Terms section of the LPPH, the definition of "staff shortage" will be revised to indicate that operations can have caregiver ratios stricter than what is required by Licensing.

Time of Initiation for Non-Abuse or Neglect Investigations (PATS 7702)

The items below are revised to remove the requirement to document the time of day when a non-abuse or neglect investigation is initiated. Time of day will remain a requirement for all abuse and neglect investigations.

Requesting and Documenting a Courtesy Interview (PATS 7697)

The items below are revised to change the process for requesting and documenting a courtesy interview conducted by a secondary investigator located in another region. This policy revision removes the requirement to add the secondary investigator as a “secondary worker” in IMPACT, and allows the secondary investigator to provide the documentation of the interview in an email.

Voluntary Suspension (PATS 7612)

The items below have been revised to clarify that an operation's permit cannot be voluntarily suspended and automatically suspended at the same time, and to revise the number of days staff have to contact an operation before the end of the voluntary suspension period, Section numbers may have changed during the editing process and content moved to allow policy to be more in-line with the workflow process.

Administrative Reviews (PATS 7322)

The items below have been revised in relation to an administrative review in which the reviewer discovers the wrong minimum standard is cited. Policy is amended so that, in these instances, the reviewer adds the minimum standard which should have been cited originally. This change reflects a more accurate picture of the situation and the risk posed to children. .
