Handbook Revision, November 2019
This revision of the Child Protective Services Handbook was published on November 1, 2019.
On September 1, 2017, the investigations branch of CPS became a separate division named Child Protective Investigations (CPI). Until CPI develops its own policy handbook, investigation policies and procedures will remain in the CPS handbook.

Recoupment of Foster Care Maintenance Overpayment (PATS 11472)
The items below are added to provide policy on recouping foster care maintenance payments from foster care providers.
The original policy was deleted in May 2016. This revised version clarifies tasks completed by the regional foster care billing staff rather than the regional accounting staff.

Medicaid Long-Term Care Interest Lists and Determining Intellectual Disability (PATS 11887)
The policy below is revised to reflect the passage of HB 1549, 86th Legislature. When a child is diagnosed with intellectual or developmental disability conservatorship workers and disability specialists must make appropriate referrals and schedule the determination of intellectual disability (DID).
