Handbook Revision, July 1, 2020
This revision of the Child Protective Services Handbook was published on July 1, 2020.
On September 1, 2017, the investigations branch of CPS became a separate division named Child Protective Investigations (CPI). Until CPI develops its own policy handbook, investigation policies and procedures will remain in the CPS handbook.

Pre-Service Training of Foster and Adoptive Homes (PATS 12362)
Aligns current DFPS policy with HB 2764 requirement to limit competency-based pre-service training to a maximum of 35 hours except in certain situations as determined by DFPS.

Review Team Members (PATS 12632)
All of DFPS policy section 1000 is in the process of being updated to reflect current definitions and practices. The changes will mirror relevant policy updates in other sections of the handbook. This update deletes the section of policy relating to review team members.
