Handbook Revision, October 3, 2022

These revisions of the Child Protective Services Handbook were published on October 3, 2022.

On September 1, 2017, the investigations branch of CPS became a separate division named Child Protective Investigations (CPI). Until CPI develops its own policy handbook, investigation policies and procedures will remain in the CPS Handbook.

Sexual Incident Resource Guide (PATS 13870)

The Sexual Incident Resource Guide is replacing the Child Sexual Aggression Resource Guide. This revision also updates all references to the resource guide in the handbook.

Provide and Discuss the Placement Summary (PATS 13868)

This revision makes a correction to the people who must sign Form 2279 and Attachment A when a child is placed in a facility regulated by another state agency.

Family Reunification (FRE) Stages (PATS 13739)

This handbook revision updates policy related to family reunification stages. The updates were necessary due to proposed changes to Legislative Budget Board performance measures and the counting of cases on a caseworker’s IMPACT workload.
