This revision of the Statewide Intake Policy and Procedures Handbook was published on May 2, 2022. Summaries of new or revised items are provided below.

CRSR Due to Lack of Locating Information (PATS 13535)

This policy revision clarifies the steps for processing this type of case-related special request (CRSR).

This revision also does the following:

  • Documents that if a FINDRS search returns new locating information, this is a valid reason to duplicate a report.
  • Clarifies criteria for assessing an I&R.
  • Adds instructions for how to process FINDRS search results.
  • Provides matching language or clarity in several sections.

Foster Care Ombudsman (PATS 13764)

This policy update replaces the word “child” with “youth” and adds information about the foster youth leaving a voice mail when calling the Foster Care Ombudsman’s office.

Limited Locating Information (PATS 13758)

This policy update clarifies the following sections:

  • Section 2740 – Adds references to sections 4614 and 5640 on how an intake specialist handles a report with limited locating information for either Child Protective Services (CPS) or Adult Protective Services (APS).
  • Section 4614 for CPS – Updates information the intake specialist must ask about when the reporter has limited locating information for the family.
  • Section 5640 for APS – Adds information about requesting a Texas Integrated Eligibility Redesign System (TIERS) search when the reporter has limited locating information.
