WHO: Twenty(20) professional photographs of children ages 10-17 who are available for adoption will be will be unveiled during a ceremony.  An information meeting for individuals interested in adoption will be held immediately after the ceremony. 

WHAT: CPS in partnership with the Houston Area Heart Gallery Board will host the unveiling of their new Heart Gallery. The Heart Gallery seeks to showcase through professional photography the personalities and beauty of children who are available for adoption.  These children are older, part of a sibling group or have special needs.  They are in CPS custody due to abuse, neglect, or, abandonment by their own biological families.

WHEN: Saturday, September 13,  2014; 10am-11am

WHERE: Mission Milby, 22220 Broadway Street. Houston, Texas 77012

VISUALS: Professional framed photographs of children available for adoption. Houston Area Heart Gallery Board Members: LyAnna Johnson, Colleen Dillahunty, Sara Lawson, and Cristina Vetrano, and State Representative Gene Wu.

  • In the greater Houston Region there are over 1500 children available for adoption.
  • 56% male 44% female
  • African American 47% Hispanic 27% Anglo 20% other race/mixed race 6%
  • 67.9% are part of a sibling group
