Definition: The award of one contract to one or more vendors by the comptroller or a state agency with the intent to order all of the solicited goods or services necessary to satisfy the actual solicitation requirements for the contract from the vendors who are awarded the contract.
The Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) may determine that awarding contracts to multiple vendors best satisfies the requirements for solicited goods and services. When developing the Invitation for Bid solicitation documents, DFPS must provide written justification supporting the use of a multiple award procurement approach. This justification must be sent to Health and Human Services Procurement and Contracting Services (HHS-PCS) for review and coordination to ensure compliance.
