Intensive Peer Support Services (IPSS) aims to:
- Decrease the number of youth aging out of foster care from congregate care settings
- Strengthen self-esteem
- Improve communication skills
- Enhance mental and emotional well-being
- Foster positive family engagement and personal growth
- Promote the development of independent living skills
DFPS Intensive Peer Support Services (IPSS) is a structured six-month mentorship program, supporting high acuity youth in foster care through relationship-based peer engagement. Regional community contractors will employ Peer Support Specialists (PSS) to provide a minimum of six hours of weekly, in-person individualized support to youth.
Eligible Youth
DFPS caseworkers and SSCC equivalent staff will refer youth who are:
- In DFPS conservatorship;
- Aged 16–17; and
- Currently in a congregate care setting, such as
- Residential Treatment Center (RTC)
- Children Without Placement (CWOP)
- At risk of entering CWOP

Our organization is committed to supporting children and youth involved with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) by promoting their safety, stability, well-being, and positive development. For more than 12 years, we have provided services to children involved with CPS in the Houston area, including supervised visitation, hospital sitting services, and support for children without a placement. Our experience has given us a strong understanding of the unique challenges youth in foster care face and the importance of consistent, compassionate, and individualized support. Through our new peer support program for youth ages 16–18, we will provide encouragement, advocacy, guidance, and a supportive connection to help youth navigate the child welfare system and prepare for adulthood.

Divine Youth Guidance, LLC (DYG) is a Texas-based youth and family services organization committed to empowering youth and young adults through trauma-informed, individualized, and community-based support.
