The prevention community webinars provide learning opportunities for the Texas Prevention Network, including the following:

PEI Partners in Prevention (PIP) Webinars

New Arrival

Child Supports Mythbusters

This presentation is designed to engage participants as we dive into Child Support Myths to identify and understand the true Texas Child Support process. It is presented by Joshua Banks of the Office of the Attorney General.

Joshua has over 15 years of ministry experience, 9 years of law enforcement experience, and countless hours devoted to community service. He served as the program coordinator for the award-winning IDADS (Involved Dads of Action Developing and Succeeding) program and received local, state, and national recognition for community leadership, partnership, and innovation. He currently serves as the Outreach and Engagement Specialist for the Office of the Attorney General’s Child Support Division.

Fostering Interactions That Build Community

Youth come to our programs with issues on their mind and in their hearts. When transitioning from virtual learning to in-person settings, it is important to rebuild community in the education setting through the creation of safe environments where youth can process their thoughts and feelings.

This training provides participants with strategies for using various types of community circles in a youth program and engaging participation in them as well. Morning meetings, closing meetings, restorative justice circles, and community circles help build strong communities for our youth that create a foundation for healthy social and emotional growth.

Texas Child Mental Health Consortium: Game Changer in Youth Mental Health

The Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium is a model of state-wide collaboration for addressing youth mental health and is the first of its kind across the nation. Twelve medical schools' departments of psychiatry, along with three non-profit organizations and a Texas pediatric hospital collaborate around five programs.

The purpose of this workshop is to discuss three resources most relevant for the PIP conference - the Child Psychiatry Access Network (CPAN), Texas Child Health Access Thru Telemedicine (TCHATT) and the Child Psychiatry Workforce Expansion (CPWE) - in order to enhance collaborative efforts at the regional levels for youth.

Addressing Disproportionate Representation and Disparate Outcomes: Moving the Work Upstream

We know that throughout systems serving families, disproportionate representation and disparate outcomes exist for similar populations. Join us as we explore how the practice of embracing cultural humility may enhance prevention efforts to support families before a crisis and assist in arriving at more equitable outcomes for Texas children and families. Our featured speakers are Mosley Hobson and Sharibeth Niehaus with the Office for Addressing Disproportionality and Disparities.

Safe Sleep: Keeping Them Safe While Your Kids Get Their Z's

Sleeping like a baby should always be safe! This training focuses on:

  • Clearly defining "safe sleep".
  • Methods to help an infant sleep safely.
  • Risk factors/safe issues associated with unsafe practices.
  • The nuts and bolts for having conversations with parents/caregivers about safe sleep that are engaging, focused, and evocative - and that facilitate safe sleep practices.
