This revision of the Adult Protective Services In-Home Handbook was published on November 1, 2016. Summaries of new or revised items are provided below.

FY 17 Release 1 for APS In-Home (PATS 9492)

APS In-Home is releasing policy revisions two times a year and this will be the first release for FY 2017. The release contains edits to the APS In-Home handbook. The changes are generally small and designed to provide clarification in each of these areas in order to address requests from external stakeholders and regional staff.

This revision clarifies:

  •  How emails and other electronic information will be documented in the case.

  •  Paid caretakers will not be considered as caretakers for completion of the Safety Assessment.

  •  When APS will investigate boarding home staff as alleged perpetrators.

  •  Paid caretakers will not be considered as caretakers for completion of the Risk of Recidivism.

Policy changes include the following:

  •  Procedure for investigation and discharge planning of clients under hospice care.

  •  APS specialists have a 10-day timeframe to request records.

  •  APS specialists have a 10-day timeframe to interview alleged perpetrators.

  •  Procedure for safety contacts when the client dies during investigation stage.

  •  APS specialists will include a summary upon completion of the investigation stage.

  •  Emotional/Verbal Abuse allegations can have a valid-no fault disposition.

  •  Service plan action result for no services available.

  •  Procedure for service contacts when a client dies during a service stage.

  •  APS specialists will include a summary upon completion of the service stage.

  •  Administrative desk review renamed desk review.

  •  Use of purchased client services (PCS) funds added for deposits.
