This revision of the DFPS Centralized Background Check Unit Operating Handbook was published on March 2, 2015. Summaries of new or revised items are provided below.
Revisions to PCS Background Check Policy (PATS 7692)
The items below are revised to provide:
• Updates to the Exemption Chart to include APS Nursing Home Care and APS Personal Care Assistance providers
• Updates to the DFPS History Chart to add Sex Trafficking, Labor Trafficking, and Alternative Response cases
• Definition and explanation of the External Sunsetting process
• Clarification that Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) services are still covered under the PCS policy
• Addition of bar for registered sex offenders
• Method and justification for requesting a review of a decision by CBCU to bar a person based on his or her background check results
