Thorough Investigations

In a thorough investigation, a worker must give each allegation one of the following dispositions:

  ·  Reason to Believe

  ·  Unable to Determine

  ·  Ruled Out

  ·  Administrative Closure

One or more (but not all) allegations may be given the disposition of Administrative Closure.

The risk finding may be Risk Indicated, Factors Controlled, No Significant Factors, or Risk Assessment Not Applicable.

Abbreviated Investigations

When documenting an abbreviated investigation, the combination of the overall disposition and risk finding can be only one of the following:

  ·  Ruled Out with Factors Controlled

  ·  Ruled Out with No Significant Factors

  ·  Ruled Out with Risk Assessment Not Applicable

Unable to Complete Investigations

Unable to Complete investigations are those in which one of the following applies:

  ·  The family cannot be located to begin the investigation because:

  ·  CPS lacks the necessary information, such as a current address, or

  ·  the family was contacted and then moved and can no longer be located to complete the investigation, or

  ·  The family refuses to cooperate with the investigation or appears to be avoiding CPS intervention.

All allegations are given the disposition of Unable to Complete or Administrative Closure, which results in an overall disposition of Unable to Complete.
